WOMBATT is back? Hells yeah! The infamous heavy metal marsupials are ready to squeeze into their spandex once again after 40 years of obscurity – and yikes - is their message dated. In fact, as they burrow headfirst into TikTokking Spotify culture, their dick-swinging 1980s ways threaten to cancel them before they even hit their first power chord. Luckily a teenage fan looking for vintage caché wants to help. As she begins to change the band’s patriarchal mindset and focus them on the music, a rag-tag family emerges – and she discovers these relic rockers just might have some 20th century wisdom worth keeping after all.

KEY creative - Paula Tiberius

Paula Tiberius is a screenwriter, director and musician whose screenplays have been featured on Netflix, Amazon, Peacock, UPtv, INSP, CityTV, Superchannel, CBC and more. Her recent screenwriting credits include the Lifetime TV thriller comedy Hunting Housewives (2024), All Aboard for Love (2023), Country Roads Christmas (2022) and Santa’s Got Style (2022) among others. Her adapted script, Snowbound for Christmas (2019), became the #4 movie on Netflix in 2021’s holiday season. In 2023, she co-directed the feature film Christmas Time Capsule and a 5-part music video campaign for Richard Duguay’s album Beautiful Decline.

Paula’s independent film background began with a slate of short films and her directorial feature debut Goldirocks (2004), an award-winning film about a girl who finds her purpose when she picks up a guitar. Paula worked in animation as a marketing director, which is where she met Bang in Bangkok’s Marty Knox years ago. Now they’re working together again with the BIB team to create the animated TV satire WOMBATT, a rock and roll marsupial adventure that combines underdog storytelling with heavy metal rock and roll.
